Controller and Contact

The controller of your personal data is PVexperts, which operates the BestEssays.com website (“the Company”, “we” or “us”).

Privacy questions and requests go to the same address as everything else: support@bestessays.com.

Information Collected

The Company collects the kinds of information listed below. Most of it comes directly from you, and technical details are collected automatically as you use the website:

• Account and contact details: your email address, together with the name, phone number and country the order form asks for, and your time zone if you set one.
• Order form entries: an email address typed into the order form reaches the Company as soon as you enter it, even if you never place the order. It is stored with the record of your visit for up to 45 days, and only its domain is used in the Company's analytics.
• Order details: your instructions, uploaded files, messages with Support and your Writer, your order history, and any ratings or feedback you leave.
• Payment details: card payments are made through third-party payment processors, so the Company never receives or stores your full card number. It sees the payment status and limited details, such as the last digits of the card, the card's country and the processor's fraud signals. Anything you send to verify a payment, such as a screenshot of the charge, is used only for that check and deleted afterwards.
• Technical details: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the page that referred you, how you use the order form, and the cookies described under Cookies.
• Conversations: messages you send to Support on WhatsApp through the button on the website, along with the phone number and profile name that WhatsApp shares with the recipient.
• Free writing tools: the text you submit for paraphrasing or checking. It is sent to the providers that run these tools, a result may be stored for a short time so the same text is not processed twice, and usage limits are applied per visitor. Please do not paste personal data into the tools.

Information Seen by Writers

Writers see the instructions and files attached to an order, because they need them to do the work. They never see your name, email address, phone number or payment details.

Please keep personal data out of your instructions and files. If a task truly depends on something personal, include only what the Writer needs.

Purposes and Legal Bases

Each use of your data rests on a legal basis under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation:

• running the service, your account and your orders: performance of the contract with you;
• processing payments, preventing fraud and keeping the service secure, which includes checking IP addresses and device details: the Company's legitimate interests, and legal obligations for payment and accounting records;
• answering your questions and requests: performance of the contract, or the Company's legitimate interest in helping you;
• service emails about your orders: performance of the contract;
• promotional emails: your consent or the Company's legitimate interest, depending on the law that applies to you. Every promotional email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time, including in your account settings;
• analytics and improvements to the website: the Company's legitimate interests;
• compliance with the law and lawful requests from authorities: legal obligation.

Recipients

The Company does not sell personal data. It shares data only as far as each purpose requires, with these recipients:

• payment processors and banks, to take and verify payments;
• hosting and IT providers, including the providers behind the free writing tools;
• email delivery providers, to send service and promotional emails;
• customer messaging providers, for conversations on WhatsApp;
• analytics providers, namely Google Analytics, to measure how the website is used;
• professional advisers and public authorities, where the law requires it;
• other websites and services operated by the Company, including its payment pages, where they service your orders and account.

International Transfers

The Company's providers may process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission.

Retention

Account and order records are kept while your account is in use and afterwards for as long as they are needed for disputes, accounting and legal obligations, but no longer than 10 years after your last use of the service.

Payment verification material is deleted once the check is done, and the data used for promotional emails is kept until you unsubscribe.

The Company's own records of visits and of how the order form is used are kept for 13 months. An email address typed into the order form without an order being placed is kept for up to 45 days.

A verified deletion request is completed within 14 days, except for records that the law requires the Company to keep.

Your Rights

Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, you may ask the Company for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of its use and a portable copy. You may also object to its use, including for direct marketing, and withdraw any consent you have given.

To make a request, write to support@bestessays.com from the email address linked to your account. The Company may ask you to confirm your identity and will answer within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. The Company would welcome the chance to put things right first, so please consider writing to Support before you do.

California Residents

The Company does not sell personal information. If you live in California, you can ask what personal information the Company holds about you and ask for it to be deleted. Write to support@bestessays.com with “California Privacy Request” in the subject line.

Children

The service is not directed at anyone under 16. If the Company finds that it holds data belonging to a child, that data is deleted. Parents or guardians who believe a child has shared personal data with the Company can write to Support.

Security

Every page of the website is served over HTTPS, staff access to personal data is restricted, and card data stays with the payment processors.

No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell Support at once if you suspect that your account has been misused.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. You can block or delete them in your browser settings. Blocking Google Analytics cookies does not affect how the website works, but you cannot stay signed in without the session cookie. Your browser's local storage also keeps two small preferences: the currency you chose in the order form, and the fact that you pressed OK on the cookie notice, so that the notice does not appear again.

BestEssays uses these cookies:

• a session cookie that keeps you signed in to your account;
• first-party cookies named es_aid, es_first and es_last, which remember how a visitor found the website, for example through a campaign or another site; es_aid and es_first are kept for up to 400 days and es_last for 30 days;
• Google Analytics cookies, which count visits and show how the website is used.

Changes

The Company may update this policy. Each change is published on this page with a new “last updated” date.
