Real-world problems are also called word problems and they are used in mathematics education with the purpose of teaching students to solve real-world situations. Abstract math problems arise in all fields of mathematics while the obtained results may be applied outside the world of mathematics. For solving the most difficult math problems a person should engage in high level thinking such as analysis, synthesis, evaluation which may result in abstraction or generalization.
